Smart home discounts increase as An Post Insurance offers complimentary alarm system
Householders who opt to make their homes smarter can avail of up to 18% off their insurance and a complimentary Smartzone Home Alarm System worth €699 thanks to a new offer from An Post Insurance and smart home provider Smartzone.
An Post Insurance has partnered with Ireland’s leading smart home and business automation provider Smartzone to launch the Smartzone Home Alarm System which they claim will significantly reduce the risk of insurance claims.
Smartzone is the only Irish company offering the full smart home experience, connecting alarm systems, heating, door locks, gates, CCTV lights and sockets all on one smartphone-based system.
Householders availing of the offer will get a complimentary Smartzone system consisting of a smart hub, a keypad, three PIR sensors, two window sensors, and a decoy bellbox.
There are also a range of smart energy, security, and wellness products that can be instantly added on to this, all of which are controlled from the one app.
All new customers can be surveyed remotely using Smartzone’s Smart Assessment video technology, and installations are carried out in a safe and socially distant manner, with installers wearing full protective equipment.
Once a Smartzone system is installed in a property, An Post Insurance will allow a Smartzone Home Alarm System discount of 18% (their standard approved alarm discount is 12.5%), at policy renewal once advised of the alarm, in recognition of the reduced risks.

As well as 24 hour monitored security, Smartzone provides real-time alerts via an interactive app and allows the user to set location-based geo-services — such as reminders if the alarm isn’t set when you leave the house.
“With Smartzone’s app, users can adjust thermostats, view CCTV cameras, monitor security, open gates, and doors, turn lights off and on and, importantly, monitor usage,” said Smartzone CEO Justin McInerney.

Customers will subsequently pay €29.99 a month on a fixed 36-month contract with Smartzone, who will provide the Smart Home Security, 24/7 PSA monitoring warranty on parts and labour, over the duration of the contract.
